From the Edge to the Cloud: A Strategic Imperative for Data-Centric Organizations

Tsecond Inc.

Tsecond addresses the challenge of moving massive datasets from remote edge environments to centralized cloud infrastructure through integration with AWS Data Transfer Terminals.

At Tsecond, we spend a lot of time thinking about data. Not just how to store it, but how to get it where it's most needed as quickly as possible. While data capture at the edge has become increasingly sophisticated, managing and mobilizing enterprise data remains a challenge. The secure and efficient transfer of large datasets from remote, mobile, or rugged environments — oil rigs, movie sets, or even autonomous vehicle testbeds — to centralized cloud infrastructure remains a significant bottleneck. Traditional network connections are often insufficient, hampered by inconsistent bandwidth, high latency, and security vulnerabilities that expose critical projects to delays, high costs and risks.

This is precisely the challenge we have set out to solve through our integration with AWS and their Data Transfer Terminals (DT2). Our BRYCK family of products, including the versatile BRYCK Mini and the scalable BRYCK Platform, are engineered to capture and process vast quantities of data directly at the source, wherever that may be. This capability delivers even greater advantages when paired with a robust, convenient and accelerated path to the cloud, where the value of the data can be fully harnessed through further processing, analysis and distribution.

The synergy between our BRYCK devices and the AWS DT2 service offers three key advantages:

Slash Data Transfer Times

By dramatically reducing the time required for data transfer from days or weeks to mere hours, we enable organizations to accelerate their data-driven processes and gain a competitive edge.

Enhanced Security and Compliance

The DT2 facilities provide a secure chain of custody, with data remaining on the encrypted BRYCK device during the physical transfer and upload process.

Operational and Cost Efficiency

The on-demand, pay-per-use model of the DT2 eliminates the need for maintaining permanent, high-bandwidth network connections, allowing businesses to optimize their operational costs.

The AWS Data Transfer Terminal (DT2) provides this critical piece of the solution. Unlike traditional network transfers, the DT2 service offers access to secure, physical facilities with dedicated, high-speed fiber optic connections to AWS, bypassing the public internet to directly ingest massive datasets into AWS endpoints, such as Amazon S3, at speeds in excess of 100 Gbps.

The BRYCK devices' unique combination of rugged and compact form factor, high capacity and exceptional performance make this synergy possible. Their portability allows for efficient physical transit from the edge to the DT2 facility. Mil-grade design, encryption and self-healing software protects the data from intrusion and corruption. And, maybe most importantly, the BRYCK devices' NVMe-powered high read and write performance capabilities make effective use of the DT2 connections' available bandwidth. Recent tests validate this synergistic approach: in real-world scenarios, our BRYCK Mini achieved a sustained upload speed of 20 Gbps, while the BRYCK Platform reached speeds of up to 125 Gbps. These results demonstrate the viability and transformative potential of a solution that combines high-performance portable storage with a dedicated data transfer service.

This is just the beginning. We're continuing to optimize BRYCK solutions and software to deliver even greater upload speeds. Our goal is to ensure that the BRYCK and AWS DT2 remains the fastest, most secure and reliable way to get your data from the edge to the cloud. The future of data is here, moving at a pace that will transform how we all do business. Count on us to remove the speed bumps.
